Hudson River Project

Adventure junkie and world renowned cyclist James Bawthorpe is about to set out on a journey to explore the infamous city of New York in an entirely different way.

Forget the tour guides and the yellow cabs, this expedition is all about the water.

Along with film-maker friend Antony Crook, James will make a boat constructed entirely of the city's refuse. Then, they'll row it down the 315 mile length of the Hudson River to its source.

It's called the Hudson River Project and aims to connect the sprawling metropolis that is NYC to its organic beginnings within nature.

Because, let's face it, it's difficult to remember when looking at soaring concrete giants and glass shards, blinding lights and teaming life, that such a place started off as a small, indigenous cluster of society, huddled around a river as their life source. Quite a journey. Which makes projects like this all the more important.

Maybe if we understand where we came from, we'll have a better grasp of where it is we're headed.
